MEET JEREMIAH HATHORN, CPA
Founder & Principal Advisor
Jeremiah Hathorn built Hathorn Advisory Group around a simple belief every business deserves access to real financial leadership.
After years of advising major corporations at Ernst & Young, Jeremiah saw a gap: small and growing businesses rarely get the same level of strategic guidance that large companies take for granted. He set out to change that.
His experience includes leading complex financial projects from IPOs and mergers to audit remediation and corporate transformations while ensuring businesses stay compliant and confident through every step. Jeremiah’s background spans Fortune 500 companies like Express Scripts and Panera Bread, where he learned firsthand how great systems, people, and strategy work together to build sustainable success.
Today, he brings that expertise to business owners, nonprofits, and public organizations who want more than just accounting they want a partner who listens, understands their challenges, and helps them grow with clarity and control.
Outside of client work, Jeremiah serves as an adjunct professor at a historically Black college and university (HBCU), teaching financial accounting and mentoring students who are carving their own path in the world of business and leadership.
“My goal has always been simple,” Jeremiah says. “I want to help people make sense of their numbers and use them to build something lasting.”
PROFESSIONAL AWARDS
LEADERSHIP
Jeremiah believes that leadership means more than holding a title — it’s about using your experience to open doors for others.
As President of the National Association of Black Accountants (NABA) St. Louis Chapter and President of the 100 Black Men of Metropolitan St. Louis, he actively mentors young professionals and advocates for representation, education, and opportunity within the accounting field.
He previously served as President of the Association of Government Accountants (AGA) St. Louis Chapter and continues to support the Missouri Society of CPAs (MOCPA) Educational Foundation Board, working to strengthen the CPA pipeline and prepare the next generation of accounting leaders.

Over the years, he’s also held treasurer and finance roles with several nonprofits — helping them operate with greater transparency, accuracy, and trust.
Through every role, Jeremiah stays focused on one mission: to lead by example, give back through mentorship, and use his skills to make a measurable difference.
